A Brief History of Stoughton Steel Company

Stoughton Steel Co. was founded in Stoughton, Massachusetts by Andry and Dolores Lagsdin in 1978, for the purpose of designing, manufacturing and selling of FlipPad™, the World's first reversible stabilizer pads, for tractor loader backhoes, which Andry developed and Patented. FlipPads are unique in that they have two pad surfaces. On one side, there is a soft resilient side made of recycled rubber for use on paved surfaces that one damage concrete. The other side was designed with an aggressive grouser arrangement, for the purpose of stabilizing the vehicle on unpaved hard ground. These two surfaces are combined into one pad that is instantly reversible without the need of tooling or removal of accessory hardware. Though Stoughton struggled in the early years, demand for the FlipPads have steadily increased, which provided a slow but steady growth.

By 1980 Stoughton had outgrown the original Stoughton location. Since suitable facilities could not be found to accommodate the growth, a new 16,000 facility was found in Hanover, Massachusetts.

1990 Andry and Dolores Lagsdin appointed Eric Lagsdin to Vice President of Operations.

1994 Andry and Dolores appointed Andris Lagsdin to the position of director of Sales and Marketing.

In 2000, Stoughton strengthened its management team with the addition of Peter Kehew. Peter brings a strong finance and consulting background to help with the growth of the company

2001 Stoughton strengthened its manufacturing capability by adding 5,000 square feet of space.

Stoughton currently is the World Leader in the development and manufacturing of the benchmark, FlipPad reversible stabilizer pad that is recognized symbol of the state of the art design and craftsmanship.

2003 was a special year for Stoughton. By working closely with Industry giants, dealerships and end users, and over 3 years of research and development, Stoughton developed the Worlds First Double Sided Rubber FlipPad and Double sided Street pad. The world's first stabilizer pad with a reversible rubber. In the fall of 2004, Stoughton will be manufacturing both patented designs to Industry Leaders.

2005 Stoughton has begins working with local manufactures and design facilities to powder coat and fabricate products using Stoughton's state of the art powder coat line and fabricating capabilities.
